Wallingford Emergency Dentist

If you have a dental emergency, we will see you today during our regular office hours, even if you’re not an existing patient. Our North Haven, Wallingford, and Cromwell locations are open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and some Saturdays from 8 am to 4 pm.

Dental Emergencies We Treat

Infection. An infected tooth is a painful dental emergency. Infections can become serious if they spread to other parts of the body through the bloodstream. When you come to our office, we’ll treat the infection, relieve the pain, and then schedule another appointment to complete the treatment and ensure the infection won’t return.

Loose bridge or crown. If you have a bridge or crown that is loose, we can help. If it has fallen out, bring it to the appointment if you can.

Broken tooth. Teeth can break because of an accident or just from biting down on something hard. A crack in your tooth can provide a pathway for bacteria and food debris, leading to infection. The sooner a broken tooth is fixed, the less likely you are to develop an infection.

Knocked-out tooth. If your tooth has been knocked out, the most important thing is to get to our office with the tooth as soon as possible—ideally within 30 minutes. It can help to wrap the tooth in a damp paper towel, but not if it delays you.

Aesthetic emergencies. A chip in a front tooth needs immediate attention to restore your appearance. Fixing it promptly also helps protect the tooth.

Sedation Dentistry for Anxious Patients

If you get regular cleanings and x-rays, you’re less likely to need emergency dental care. Unfortunately, some patients are too anxious to visit the dentist for routine care. It’s understandable if anxiety has caused you to put off treatment. We enjoy caring for anxious patients and making them feel good about dental care. In addition to a warm and welcoming environment, we offer sedation. With sedation, you will be so relaxed that you won’t be anxious about your dental work. In fact, you probably won’t remember it.

We offer three kinds of sedation:

  • Nitrous oxide sedation
  • Oral sedation
  • IV sedation

Nitrous oxide is our lightest form of sedation. It’s a good choice for mild dental anxiety, and it works quickly and wears off quickly. Oral sedation, which only requires you to take a pill before your appointment, provides a deeper level of relaxation. IV sedation is especially good for procedures like implant placement and wisdom tooth extraction. Read more about sedation at Nova Dental here.
